Some key elements I have discovered that are necessary for constructive/positive reflection include those mentioned herein.

  • Keep it Real, Honest, Realistic, and Specific,

  • Exercise Patience and Perseverance.

  • Pace yourself; don’t rush the process, as that will make it forced.

  • Slow down, chill & appreciate the little things in life, and the beauty in creation.

  • Discover your passion/what really drives/energises/motivates you.

  • Prepare an Options Map/Decision Tree to set out your thoughts about available options clearly,

  • Use open, honest communication with your partner so that you can complete this together constructively.

  • Listen empathetically.

  • Identify It, Name It, Own It, Shame It/Control It, Learn from It.

  • Compare, complain and criticise less.

  • Learn lessons and put corrective actions in place (new disciplines and good habits).

  • Read inspirational books.

  • Don’t let your circumstances define your Joy. “The joy of the Lord is your strength” (Nehemiah 8:10)

  • Remember where your identity lies. You are a child of God.

  • Make use of YouVersion Devotionals and spend more time in Scripture (going deeper) in order to gain new perspective and understanding.

  • Serve, volunteer and engage in life and support groups; you grow as you serve, and you learn from others.

  • Confide in carefully selected family & friends.

  • Cultivate an attitude of gratitude.

  • Pray, then listen and act in obedience.

  • Trust in God’s presence, power, provision and promises; He is forever faithful.
